New Mexico Mutual Takes Fraud Seriously

Do not let fraud impact your cost of doing business. The price for fraud is seen in higher claim costs and, in turn, higher premiums. This can lead to lost jobs and profits, lower wages, reductions in benefits, and higher cost for goods and services.

Fraud can take many forms in workers’ compensation insurance, most notably:

  • Staging an accident
  • Falsely claiming an injury was work related
  • Misrepresenting medical or work status
  • Intentional misclassification of class code or payroll

New Mexico Mutual has a “Zero Tolerance” policy for fraud and aggressively pursues allegations of fraudulent activities by injured workers, medical providers, or employers. We have professionals trained in fraud detection and work closely with employers and governmental agencies to detect, investigate and prosecute insurance fraud. In 2008, New Mexico Mutual spent more than $220,000 in investigation fees on nearly 150 cases.

If you reasonably suspect insurance-related fraud, contact the New Mexico Mutual Corporate Governance Department at NMMcorporategovernance@newmexicomutual.com or through the Corporate Governance hotline called SilentWhistle (anonymously or not) at allegiance.com/silentwhistle or 1-877-874-8416.
