Del Archuleta

Mr. Adelmo “Del” Archuleta is the Chief Executive Officer, President, and owner of Molzen-Corbin & Associates, one of New Mexico’s largest and most respected multidiscipline engineering and architectural firms. Mr. Archuleta began his professional engineering career upon completing his master’s degree in civil engineering at NMSU in 1975. Mr. Archuleta continues to be extremely active in leadership of numerous business, government and education sector boards and organizations in New Mexico, including serving on the Board of Directors of Presbyterian Health Services, Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM), and the Bank of Albuquerque. He is past chair of the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and State Board of Education and a past president of the NMSU Board of Regents, among many other activities. He was appointed as a New Mexico Mutual board member by Governor Bill Richardson in 2009.

Sam Baca

Sam Baca

Samuel L. Baca is a certified public accountant with the firm Baca & Redwine, P.C. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Mexico Society of Certified Public Accountants and the New Mexico Estate Planning Council. He has served as resource to the judiciary in New Mexico, providing leadership on the statewide alimony guidelines committee. His expertise regarding finances in divorce matters also is provided to the collaborative law group and to the Samaritan Counseling Center’s Center for Changing Families. He was elected to the Board by the policyholders in May, 2008.

Norm Becker

Norm Becker

Norm Becker, President and CEO of New Mexico Mutual since April 2008, has vast experience in the business of insurance and health care. With the significant and increasing contribution of medical cost to the total cost of claims in the workers’ compensation industry, Mr. Becker brings unique experience to the position. His former roles included 20 years with Blue Cross Blue Shield plans with the last seven of those years as CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico. He was also President and CEO of Lovelace Health System from 2003-2006, a system of hospitals, a multi-specialty medical group, health plan and medical laboratory. Mr. Becker has also been an active leader in the community. He is past-chair of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and Leadership New Mexico, as well as former chair of United Way of Central New Mexico. Additionally, he sits on other community related and business boards around New Mexico.  Mr. Becker was honored as a Top Performing CEO by New Mexico Business Weekly in 2010.

Kim Nunley

Kim is a senior partner focused on growing the assurance and advisory practices through new business development and management of existing client relationships. Kim has experience serving both public and private clients in a variety of industries including financial services, manufacturing and distribution, technology, government contracting and employee benefit plans. Kim has worked with many clients during her career who operate throughout the Southwest, including clients with operations throughout Europe and Asia.
Kim has 27 years of experience in public accounting as an auditor and business advisor and currently is a Partner at accounting firm Moss Adams LLP (2010 to current). During her career, Kim has held significant leadership positions for international accounting firms Grant Thornton LLP (2002 – 2010) and Arthur Andersen (1985 – 2002).
Kim has been recognized for her achievements during her career by the New Mexico Society of CPA’s and the AICPA as a “Woman to Watch – Experienced Leader”, and is an inductee of the University of New Mexico’s Anderson Schools of Management Hall of Fame for outstanding alumni.

Nick Franklin

Nick Franklin, Chairman

Nick Franklin is the Vice President of Advancement for New Mexico State University and is also the Executive Director of NMSU Foundation. He has more than 40 years of experience in the public affairs arena. His expertise in government and administrative law, government relations and public policy development was acquired over a career which included service as an aide to a U.S. Senator, Chief Legislative Assistant and Legal Advisor to the Governor of New Mexico, and Secretary of Energy for New Mexico. He retired in 2004 as Senior Vice President of Public Affairs for PacifiCare Health Systems, where he provided corporate level leadership in government relations, regulatory affairs, and communications. Mr. Franklin received his Bachelor of Arts degree in government from New Mexico State University and a jurist doctorate from the George Washington University Law School. Mr. Franklin was appointed to the New Mexico Mutual Board of Directors by Governor Bill Richardson.

Jackie Mitchell Edwards

Jackie Mitchell Edwards recently left the position of Chief Operating Officer of The Paso del Norte Group, a bi-national membership organization of business and civic leaders from the Paso del Norte region, which is comprised of El Paso, Texas, Las Cruces, New Mexico and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Ms. Edwards remains a Member of The Paso del Norte Group, which is focused on economic development. Ms. Edwards previously was a Wealth Management Advisor at Merrill Lynch in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and previous to Merrill, at Waddell & Reed in Las Cruces, NM and El Paso, Texas.  Before entering the financial field, she owned a small business in Las Cruces.

Before moving back to the region where she grew up, Ms. Edwards practiced corporate law in New York City for sixteen years in various positions – as a Corporate Associate in a major law firm, as Acquisition Counsel for North America for an international company and as a corporate attorney at major U.S. company.  Prior to law school, she worked as a legislative assistant for a U.S. Congressman, as a research assistant at a think tank and at an economic development commission, which covered the US counties along the US/Mexico Border.

Jackie Mitchell Edwards is a graduate of Princeton University and NYU Law School and holds the CIMA® (Certified Investment Management Analyst) designation.

Richard Hensleigh

Richard Hensleigh

Richard R. Hensleigh is an insurance adjuster, appraiser, insurance consultant and horse trainer. He provides the board with 48 years experience in the insurance industry. He has been active in the New Mexico Claims Association, the New Mexico Insurance Association and the Independent Insurance Agents Association of New Mexico. He was employed by GAB, one of the country’s biggest insurance adjusting firms until his retirement in 1997. At that time he became self employed as a consultant to the insurance industry. Mr. Hensleigh was elected to the New Mexico Mutual Board of Directors by the policyholders in May, 2008.

Al berryman

Al Berryman is a College Associate Professor at New Mexico State University where he teaches classes in Finance and Insurance. He is also the Director of the Insurance and Financial Services Center at NMSU.
He started in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster in 1967 and has held positions in claims, marketing, and underwriting. He was an independent agency owner in Roswell for 23 years and is a past Chairman of the Independent Agents of New Mexico. He has taught insurance courses for over 30 years and holds both the CPCU and CLU designations.

Joseph Badal

Joseph Badal currently serves as CEO of Joseph Badal & Associates, Inc. (“JB&A“), and provides consulting services to a variety of firms, including financial and real estate companies.  Joe also currently serves as a member of the boards of directors of Sacred Wind Communications, Inc., and of the New Mexico Small Business Investment Corporation.  Previously, between 2001 and 2007, Joe served as the Senior Executive Vice President/Chief Lending Officer of Thornburg Mortgage, Inc. (“TMA”) and the Chief Executive Officer of Thornburg Mortgage Home Loans, Inc. (“TMHL“), where he managed all loan production activities of Thornburg Mortgage, Inc., including Sales and Marketing, Operations, Underwriting and Servicing.  Joe also served as a director of Thornburg Mortgage, Inc. 
Prior to his banking and finance career, Joe served in the U.S. Army for six years, including tours of duty in Greece and Vietnam, leaving the service in 1972 as a Captain.
Joe is a finance graduate of Temple University, received his MBA from the University of New Mexico, and attended Stanford University Law School’s Directors College.
He is also an author, with four published novels – The Pythagorean Solution, Evil Deeds, Terror Cell, and The Nostradamus Secret. His fifth novel, Inside Job, will be released in 2012.
